ABSTRACT:There has been an acceleration in global warming and other environmental issues due to industrialization, high population growth and other socio-economic factors in China. Besides, electricity volume generated through non-renewable resources directly contribute majorly in environmental pollution. The present study, therefore, aims to analyse economy-wide implications of factors such as electricity production from wind and solar sources, and mitigation strategies, such as carbon taxes and carbon finance, on environmental performance in China. The article uses population growth and industrialization as control variables to predict environmental performance. The study employs the dynamic auto-regressive distributed lag (DARDL) and nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL) models to determine the nexus among the variables. The outcomes indicate that electricity production from wind and solar sources, carbon taxes, carbon finance, population growth, and industrialization have positive links to environmental performance and negative links to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in China. This implies that as an emerging renewable pioneer, China is advised to have less reliance on coal-based resources in electricity grid and expand its interest in renewable resource through the help of environmental technologies.
摘要:工业化进程、人口高速增长及其他社会经济因素已导致中国在全球变暖等环境问题上加速恶化。此外,不可再生资源发电量直接构成环境污染的主要来源。本研究旨在分析风能太阳能发电等环境技术因素,以及碳税、碳金融等减排策略对中国环境绩效的宏观影响,并选取人口增长与工业化作为控制变量进行预测。研究采用动态自回归分布滞后(DARDL)模型与非线性自回归分布滞后(NARDL)模型解析变量关系。结果表明:风能太阳能发电、碳税、碳金融、人口增长及工业化与环境绩效呈正相关,与温室气体排放呈负相关。这意味着作为新兴可再生能源先驱,中国应通过环境技术降低电力系统对煤炭资源的依赖,并扩大对可再生能源的开发投入。
